Job Title: Policy & Innovation Analyst

Location: United Kingdom (Homebased)

About The Role

BSI Regulatory Service is evolving and as part of our growth, we are seeking to move into new sectors to deliver innovative and transformational Notified Body services.

The purpose of this role is to analyse emerging areas of regulation and technology, across industries, to establish where and how Regulatory services can influence and deliver their service offerings to different sector clients.

You will be part of the Strategy & Innovation team working across regulatory jurisdiction and developing new approaches in scanning emerging technology, regulation and industry needs, and responsible for driving the evidence generation and analysis to underpin successful strategies.

Responsibilities

Strategic Situation/Scenario Analysis

  • Investigate, analyse and report business opportunities in new industry sectors, considering the regulatory arena, industry sectors, technology trends and the political environment.
  • Analyse competitor and regulatory/legislative developments, working in collaboration with the Strategy & Innovation and RS regulatory leads to get an early insight on regulations, standards and policy changes that are on the horizon.
  • Work closely with colleagues in Medical Devices, AI and Product Certification to interpret draft and published regulation/legislation to identify opportunities in new industry sectors.
  • Lead primary and secondary customer research.
  • Align with other streams across BSI to ensure there is a coherent strategy for industry sectors.


RS Strategy Development & Business Planning

  • Support the Heads of Life Sciences and Emerging Sectors in the development of their strategies and product development, through the provision of robust analysis.
  • Support the Regulation & Policy Innovation Director and the Strategy & Innovation Director with clear, evidence-based data analysis of the sectors required.
  • Support the Directors by developing relationships in the markets identified to build awareness of BSI’s expertise in this space.
  • Work collaboratively across BSI to build internal partnerships to support the RS strategy.


Strategy Implementation & Delivery

  • Continually monitor the external environment for changes that may impact RS’ strategy, ensuring:
    • These are communicated and understood across the relevant teams.
    • Provide data and impact assessments to support the evolving strategy and any proposed mitigations.
Organisation & Transformation

  • Support the new Strategy & Innovation Team by assisting in the development of guidance & learning materials on the sectors identified in the strategy.


Key Performance Indicators

  • Working effectively and collaboratively with the Strategy & Innovation team; RS Business Units team; and all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Achievement – delivering market and customer insights to create value.
  • Identifying early opportunities across the sectors where Regulatory Service to become the leader in that sector.
  • Timely completion of assigned tasks / total assigned tasks.
  • Successful maintenance of KPIs developed for the Strategy & Innovation team.
  • Good time management and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Building and retaining relationships with RS team and wider BSI teams.


To Be Successful In The Role, You Will Have

  • At least three years' experience in a Regulated Industry in one of the following areas: Data analysis, Strategic Analysis, KPIs & Operational Analysis.
  • Hands on experience in data analysis tool set (MS Power-BI, Qlik Sense).
  • Knowledge on how to develop strategy options and the supporting KPIs.
  • Educated to Batchelor’s degree level.
  • Conceptual and analytical thinking, efficiency and results orientation.
  • A team player good at relationship building internally and externally with authorities and clients and other stakeholders.
