Join the team as a freelancer and support us on our mission.

We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable commercial consultant to provide expert advice and guidance to FIFA and its member associations ("MAs") on revenue generation and commercial growth strategies with a specific focus on the African continent.

As a consultant, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of senior managers within the game and shaping the commercial success and sustainability of football associations.

THE POSITION

These Are Your Key Tasks

  • Market knowledge:
  • Understanding of the global structure(s) of football and its associated revenue streams and commercial operations
  • Knowledge of the key drivers related to revenue generation and commercial growth generally.
  • Awareness of the sporting landscape, competitor and trend analysis and potential areas for growth.
  • Deep knowledge of African Member Associations and the wider football ecosystem and commercial opportunities
  • Ability to develop revenue generation strategies:
  • Capable of collaborating with FIFA and its members to develop effective revenue generation strategies aligned with their objectives.
  • Able to provide innovative ideas and recommendations to diversify revenue sources, including amongst others: sponsorships, partnerships, licensing, merchandising, and broadcasting rights.
  • Knowledge of pricing strategies, ticketing models, and membership programmes to maximize revenue potential.
  • Advise on wider commercial growth:
  • Capable of assisting in the development of long-term commercial growth plans for individual MAs based on their economic, demographic and cultural situation.
  • Comfortable in identifying and evaluating potential business opportunities, such as expansion into new markets, events, or products.
  • Knowledge of marketing and promotional strategies to enhance brand visibility and attract sponsors, investors, and fans.
  • Provide Expert Guidance:
  • Offer expert advice on best practices in commercial operations, including contract negotiations, sales techniques, and relationship management.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory considerations related to commercial partnerships and agreements.
  • Conduct workshops, training sessions, and presentations to educate stakeholders on revenue generation strategies and commercial best practices.
  • Monitor Performance and Evaluation:
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of revenue generation initiatives.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented strategies and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate progress, achievements, and recommendations to FIFA and its MAs

The specific competencies we require for this position are :

  • Proven experience as a commercial consultant or similar role within both football and/or the wider sports industry
  • In-depth knowledge of African Member Associations and their football ecosystems, as well as the local commercial landscape
  • In-depth knowledge of revenue generation strategies, commercial operations, and industry trends within football
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct market research and competitor analysis
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively educate and also to communicate concepts and recommendations to diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated track record of developing successful revenue generation strategies and driving commercial growth
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information

Note: This is a part-time freelance position, and the consultant will work remotely, providing services on an as-needed basis. Travel required. The duration and scope of the engagement will be determined in consultation with FIFA.
