About The Opportunity

The Database Administrator position is dedicated to operating our flagship product offerings within the public sector. This role encompasses the implementation, administration, support, and monitoring of our database environment as we work toward achieving Authorization to Operate (ATO). Successful candidate will have a keen focus on database infrastructure and management within Azure, ensuring scalability, performance, and security standards to meet the unique needs of our public sector clients.

What You'll Get To Do

  • Administration and support for public sector database environments
  • Work with customer support, developers and IT personnel to resolve daytime and after-hours support issues in a timely manner and as required by service level agreements
  • Perform and manage daily database maintenance, monitoring and performance tuning tasks
  • Responsible for database disaster recovery of all database environments which includes managing and supporting SQL backup policies
  • Identify and document performance and scaling improvements to development teams
  • Manage storage environments for SQL data, logs and backups including optimization, monitoring space and providing growth statistics
  • Assist in the design and implementation of security, auditing and integrity controls
  • Actively discuss, review, and recommend technical options and activities with the team
  • Actively make recommendations and resolve technical system issues to improve SQL stability
  • Data encryption and key management processes including native SQL TDE, Key Vault integration, customer managed keys, and key rotation automation.

Skills And Experience We Value

  • Ability to obtain or currently possess Canadian Protected B security clearance
  • At least 5+ years of recent experience maintaining and administrating mission-critical database environments
  • Azure cloud based data hosting solutions including SQL on VM, SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, and Storage Accounts
  • NoSQL database technologies such as MongoDb and CosmosDb
  • Self-hosting data solutions such as MongoDB on Kubernetes
  • SQL Server 2019, SQL Server 2022, in large enterprise production environments with high transaction volume
  • Automation of processes to improve efficiency
  • Database triaging, tuning and monitoring
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, problem solving and initiative
  • Strong Azure infrastructure skillset for hosting and managing data in the cloud
  • Data streaming and caching technologies such as Kafka and Redis is a plus
  • PowerShell and Azure CLI, Terraform is a plus
  • Strong planning, time management, and documentation skills
  • Easily adapts to changing priorities

  • Works well individually and within a team
  • Ability to conduct research into infrastructure, database issues, products, and present ideas in a business-appropriate and user-friendly language
