Job Summary:
The Health & Safety Specialist plays a critical role in supporting site leadership and team members by ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. This hands-on position involves developing and implementing health and safety programs, conducting audits, delivering training, and maintaining regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be actively engaged in daily operations and comfortable with physical tasks such as climbing, squatting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with all levels of the site team
Provide technical safety and health support to site leadership
Develop and maintain written safety procedures and policies
Identify training needs and coordinate safety training programs
Support documentation including JSAs, SOPs, KPIs, and strategic planning
Maintain OSHA 300 Log and ensure accurate reporting
Participate in product/process assessments to reduce risk
Collaborate with corporate safety staff to implement initiatives
Lead and participate in site safety committee activities
Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
Investigate incidents and support corrective actions
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in safety science, environmental health, industrial hygiene, or related field
2–4 years of relevant experience in safety or manufacturing environments
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Customer-focused with sound decision-making abilities
Detail-oriented with problem-solving capabilities
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Technical proficiency and learning agility
Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl regularly
Comfortable lifting/moving up to 30 lbs regularly, 40 lbs frequently, and 100 lbs occasionally (maximum unassisted lift: 50 lbs)
Visual acuity including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
Willingness to work near moving mechanical parts and in moderate to loud noise levels
Ability to work in varying weather conditions including rain, wind, heat, and cold
Must wear PPE as designated by work area
