Job Description:

As a Senior Network Engineer at Tessenderlo Group and as a member of the global Network Competence center, you will be responsible for the design, installation, administration, and optimization of our global enterprise network and data center environments. You will ensure our infrastructure operates reliably, securely, and efficiently to meet evolving business needs.

This role combines deep technical expertise with strong operational discipline. You will manage performance, capacity, and change control, while also leading troubleshooting efforts, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to long-term strategic network improvements.

You are expected to stay ahead of industry developments in networking and related technologies, applying best practices to maintain a high-performing, future-ready infrastructure.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Operations & Administration – Configure, maintain, and support Tessenderlo Group’s enterprise network and data center environments, ensuring optimal uptime and performance.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing – Produce and maintain detailed configuration documentation, procedures, and continuity plans. Ensure team members have up-to-date skills and resources.
  • Performance & Capacity Management – Monitor system performance, analyze trends, and forecast future needs based on business requirements and risk assessments.
  • Incident & Problem Management – Provide 2nd and 3rd line support, lead troubleshooting, and implement measures to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Continuous Improvement – Identify, recommend, and implement enhancements to improve global network performance, security, and scalability.
  • Configuration Management – Define and maintain standards for network configuration items, ensuring accurate and current knowledge of infrastructure.
  • Project Delivery – Participate in and lead network-related projects such as upgrades, migrations, and technology rollouts.
  • Security & Compliance – Assist in identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with company security and operational standards.
  • Collaboration & Training – Work closely with the other network team members, the Network Architect, IT leadership, deliver training and mentoring to colleagues as required.
  • Travel – Up to a few days per month for global site support and project delivery.
Qualifications:

Core Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in enterprise network engineering, preferably within a Cisco-based infrastructure.
  • Expert knowledge in DNS, WAN, LAN, WLAN, VPN, TLS, SDWAN, and subnetting.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills for enterprise and global network architectures.
  • Cisco training and/or 5+ years hands-on Cisco experience.

Certifications & Technical Expertise

  • Cisco CCNA certification (required).
  • Fortinet knowledge/certification (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Citrix Netscaler.
  • Experience with Cisco DNA, ICA, and ACI.
  • Exposure to Microsoft technologies (O365, MS SQL, Teams VoIP, OneDrive, Azure) and virtual environments (VMware) is a plus.
