SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

Are you ready to embrace the winter season at Spirit Mountain Recreation Area? We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Outdoor Operations Attendants. This role is essential in ensuring the safe and effective operation of our ski lifts and tubing hill. It requires responsibility, customer service, and independence. The Attendant is expected to operate lifts, troubleshoot minor issues, assist in training new staff, and ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction—all while working in the great outdoors.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interact with guests during maze control and ticket scanning, keeping the crowd excited and engaged.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including shoveling snow, prepping landings, and ensuring ropes and signage are in order.
  • Create a positive atmosphere by managing music, controlling lift lines with humor and personality, and assisting guests in feeling comfortable when getting on or off the lift, which could involve picking up children or holding their hands for stability.
  • Operate ski lifts and tubing hill operations, ensuring strict adherence to all safety guidelines and operational standards.
  • Monitor for unauthorized lift usage and enforce appropriate actions for those without valid passes.
  • Serve as a point of contact for guest inquiries, delivering exceptional customer service and resolving issues promptly.
  • Conduct regular inspections of lift equipment, identifying and reporting any maintenance needs.
  • Mentor and assist in training new Attendants, sharing your knowledge and best practices.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth resort operations.
  • Take initiative during emergency situations, providing guidance and assistance as needed.
  • Demonstrate leadership and decision-making skills in day-to-day operations.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in lift operations or a similar role, or a strong interest in skiing or snowboarding to relate to guests.
  • Ability to approach guests with humor, engage them, and enhance their overall experience.
  • Proven ability to work independently and lead by example.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Physical capability to perform job duties in various weather conditions, including cold and snowy environments.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced knowledge of ski lift operations.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues.
  • Experience in training or mentoring staff.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and stoop for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Capacity to lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in a range of outdoor environments, including cold and snowy conditions.
