- Translate strategy into operational execution to drive momentum and alignment.
- Serve as a critical partner on the design and implementation of any human capital and business management systems. Support the development and implementation of an HRIS system upgrade to ensure Uplift has accurate employee information, is meeting all necessary compliance requirements, and can support personnel efficiently.
- Act as a trusted advisor, partner and sounding board to Uplift leaders across the network.
- Drive the design, development implementation and communication of strategic performance management & total reward offerings, programs and practices to help the company attract and retain great talent.
- Facilitate and provide guidance to management teams on talent related matters, directing staff on HR functions and developing, interpreting and implementing policies and procedures according to federal and state law.
- Lead, coach and develop team members who deliver outstanding customer service to all employees and can innovate and develop key initiatives for continuous improvement.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships, working collaboratively across departments to ensure full adoption of processes, procedures and policies.
- Drive for continuous improvement, collaborating with CPIO and others to design and implement programs to improve our human capital practices and make Uplift a great place to work.
- Lead a talent management function that executes with accuracy and efficiency and delivers value in support of Uplift’s strategic plan.
- Serve as the primary point of escalation/resolution in all talent management matters.
- Recruit, train, and supervise department staff and make sound recommendations related to personnel placement, assignment, retention, discipline and termination.
- Evaluate job performance of department staff to ensure effectiveness.
- Develop training options and improvement plans for department staff to ensure the department’s effective operation.
- Effectively manage the Talent Management Department budget.
- Ensure delivery of effective employee orientation and offboarding programs.
- Manage process for renewal and nonrenewal of staff, including offer letter process.
- Oversee certification and HQ compliance and reporting process.
- Oversee background screening process for new hires and current staff ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal laws.
- Design and implement the performance management and rewards process including goal setting, reviews, ratings and compensation.
- Develop and implement procedures in the preparation and revision of job descriptions and for the classification of positions in Uplift compensation plan.
- Administer exempt and nonexempt compensation programs and ensure compliance with federal wage and overtime laws.
- Lead the analysis of salary and wage adjustments in the budgeting process.
- Administer and oversee all benefits programs for employees including the selection and implementation of health and welfare programs.
- Ensure reconciliation processes are complete and up to date.
- Develop and implement procedures to ensure that employees understand personnel policy procedures and programs that affect them.
- Oversee employee grievance/complaint policy and process design; and assist in conducting high stakes grievance hearings.
- Ensure that the employee handbook is updated annually and distributed.
- Supervise personnel records management and oversee state required records management program.
- Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile, maintain, file, and secure reports, records, and other required documents.

- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, or related field required.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources operations and/or leadership development.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team with varying levels of experience and business acumen and proven ability to motivate and coach others.

Primary Purpose:
The Senior Director of Talent Management provides visionary leadership for the district’s talent strategy, with a strong focus on developing and retaining exceptional educators, school leaders, and support staff. The Senior Director of Talent Management (SDTM) will set the strategy and manage the execution of the network’s talent management functions, including Career Pathways, Succession Planning, Org Design & Planning, Performance Management & Rewards, Employee Relations, Headcount Planning & Analysis, and HR Administration. The SDTM will provide strong and effective leadership, direction, and professional expertise in all areas of talent management, for all network employees, across all employee types.
The SDTM will function as a business partner with an operational mindset. S/he will be a visionary leader with proven ability to create and implement HR strategies while simultaneously executing HR activities and programs in a fast-paced environment. S/he will design creative yet practical solutions to drive outcomes aligned with organizational objectives. The SDTM will leverage their expertise to become a trusted advisor to other senior leaders in the organization, establishing credibility across a wide range of interactions to develop and sustain healthy relationships that promote individual, team and organizational success.
The SDTM will report to the Deputy Chief of People and serve as a critical leader for Talent Management and the network overall, working in close partnership with other members of the People Leadership Team (PLT) to achieve shared People team and Uplift-wide strategic goals.
