Ultimately, your work will contribute to improving patients' quality of life and supporting their long-term recovery goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patients for side effects and effectiveness.
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and their families about addiction, treatment options, relapse prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and update individualized care plans.
  • Document patient progress, treatment responses, and any changes in condition accurately and timely in medical records.
  • Support crisis intervention efforts and provide emotional support during withdrawal and recovery phases.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety protocols, and ethical standards in all nursing activities.

Skills:

The required skills in addiction treatment nursing are applied daily to assess patient conditions accurately and deliver specialized care that addresses both physical and psychological aspects of addiction. Effective communication skills are essential for educating patients and families, as well as collaborating with healthcare teams to coordinate comprehensive treatment plans. Critical thinking and clinical judgment are used to monitor patient responses to medications and interventions, adjusting care as needed to ensure safety and efficacy. Preferred skills such as motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care enhance the nurse's ability to engage patients empathetically and support behavioral change. Additionally, proficiency in documentation and adherence to regulatory standards ensure that care delivery is both accountable and of the highest quality.
