The Associate Instructional Designer is an entry-level position into the job family, and is tasked with learning departmental expectations and processes.  The Associate Instructional Designer will assist more experienced staff in creating engaging e-learning content (interactive courses, screencast videos, etc.) for Tyler software products and services. The incumbent will work towards greater independence as experience grows. The Associate Instructional Designer is responsible for learning to create engaging e-learning content that is available to internal staff as well as external clients.
 

Responsibilities

  • Assists more experienced Instructional Designers with creating engaging e-learning content.
  • Utilizes ADDIE or other instructional design models to edit curriculum/content as directed by department manager and/or more experienced Instructional Designers.
  • Learns and utilizes adult learning theory (ALT) to produce content.
  • Learns and utilizes various e-learning authoring and video production tools to maximize interaction, engagement, and learning.
  • Researches, and drafts content that can be reimagined for use as online courses, product information, online help, training materials, support content, and other knowledge assets.
  • Works closely with the department manager and other Instructional Designers to plan and schedule projects and ensure consistent and accurate information is presented.
  • Produces content that conforms to established guidelines and Tyler/department best practices.
  • Proofreads and copyedits content for proper use of grammar, punctuation, and styles in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Tests content for accuracy, user engagement, and effectiveness.
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
 

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in instructional design, educational technology, or very closely related field. (Work experience may be considered in lieu of specific degree).
  • Closely related experience in a similar field is preferred, but schoolwork may apply.
  • Adobe products experience preferred.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) preferred.
  • Experience or education in information systems, business processes, and/or software development preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, and customer service skills.
