SUMMARY: The Reliability Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining the reliability strategies of instrumentation and electrical (I&E) systems across multiple plant operations. This includes field equipment, communication links, and associated control devices in both local and remote environments. The position supports equipment selection, specification, standard development, compliance, maintenance planning, and performance improvement initiatives. The role places a strong emphasis on achieving high levels of equipment availability, safety, cost efficiency, and mechanical integrity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and support I&E reliability improvement programs.
- Utilize CMMS, failure evaluation, Pareto and cost analysis tools.
- Create and manage inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance (ITPM) plans.
- Recommend and justify equipment upgrades; prepare Authorization Requests with lifecycle cost analysis.
- Manage data systems for specifications, calibration, validations, maintenance history, and reliability tools.

REQUIREMENTS: A successful candidate must possess the ability to perform each essential duty to a satisfactory level. - Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering is required, Professional Engineer License preferred.
- 3-5 years in the I&E Maintenance or engineering within chemical, petrochemical or refining industry preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer-sponsored visa now or in the future.
- Familiarity with process measurement instruments (flow, pressure, temperature, level, wireless).
- Working knowledge of SIS and IEC 61511.
- Strong CMMS, predictive/preventive maintenance expertise.
- Experience with instrument management tools (e.g., Intergraph SI).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong communication and technical writing.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and self-starting.
- Effective collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in dynamic environments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to move from place to place to all areas of production. Must be able to wear all required safety equipment. Must be able to push/pull up to 25 lbs., lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted, bend, stoop, and kneel. Must be able to wear all required PPE and perform field work, including in refining environments.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work environment varies from a office, plant production and outside climate conditions, based on the situation. The noise level varies depending on which area of production the employee is working in.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Days/M-F. The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Occasional changes in schedule may be required as special circumstances arise. Ability to travel up to 25%.
