About the Department

The purpose of the Assistant Director of Annual Giving reports to the Director of Athletics and serves as a full-time fundraiser securing annual gifts ranging from $50 to $5,000 for the ULM Athletic Foundation (ULMAF).   This position will attend athletic events, donor events and other department functions.  Will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends throughout the year.

 

Position Duties

  • Assist the Director of Athletics, in conjunction with the Director of Premium Seating and Membership, in developing and implementing strategies aimed to increase annual fund dollars with a goal of attracting, increasing and sustaining philanthropic support from individuals.
  • Focus on initiatives designed to secure donor renewals, reengagement of lapsed donors, and donor retention
  • Make phone calls and other introductory contacts to secure appointments with prospects
  • Assist Director of Premium Seating and Membership with all activities related to donor parking and tailgating/RV sales and fulfillment
  • Assist Director of Premium Seating and Membership with timely fulfillment of ULMAF membership benefits by working with vendors to choose, design, order, and mail annual giving membership packets, as well as high-end benefits for top ULMAF members
  • Proactively seek out opportunities/plans and implement donor recognition and stewardship efforts such as acknowledgement letters, giving societies and engagement activities in coordination with the ULM Advancement processes and guidelines.
  • Work with ULM Advancement and vendors to design and install donor recognition signage at athletic facilities
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, develop effective moves management strategies, and lead prospects through the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship cycle
  • Research and implement industry best practices to create and execute leadership annual giving and membership programs sales strategies
  • Serve as staff liaison with ULMAF Board of Directors and assist with other volunteer fundraising efforts as assigned
  • Oversee logistics of donor travel and special events/dinners at away games or post-season competitions
  • Maintain accuracy of records through entering contact reports and providing updates to donor database; following data policies and guidelines for requesting reports and use of data
  • Work with Director of Athletics to set individual performance goals and priorities annually
  • Actively participate in ULMAF and ULM Advancement staff meetings and retreats
  • Knowledge of donor database Raiser’s Edge and financial database Financial Edge
  • Knowledge of AXS ticket System
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends
  • Other duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications includes a bachelor’s degree, preferred; collegiate experience preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience, with a preference given to a background in fundraising or sales
  • A strong affinity toward and understanding of intercollegiate athletics, including an interest in enhancing the student-athlete experience through philanthropy
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; 
  • Knowledge of communication and donor best practices; 
  • Organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and details effectively; 
  • Capable of crafting professional documentation; 
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to think critically and exercise sound judgment and decision making
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of constituencies; 
  • Must maintain a thorough knowledge of NCAA, Sun Belt, and ULM rules and regulations.  
  • Must have good attention to detail and the ability to note errors and inconsistencies; 
  • Ability to meet established deadlines; 
Proficient knowledge of Financial Edge, Raiser’s Edge, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and AXS Ticketing System
