The Preconstruction Engineer is responsible for setting up and maintaining preconstruction project records, bidding processes, subcontractor solicitations, scope estimating, drawing reviews, and analyzing assigned projects.
Qualifications:Experience/Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in all aspects of multi-family and mixed-use construction or undergraduate studies in Construction Management or related field.
- Literacy in reading and reviewing construction document
- Knowledge of construction methods, practices, materials, estimating, scheduling and management

- Assist the Preconstruction Manager and project team to ensure the appropriate administrative controls are adhered to throughout the preconstruction process.
- Completes and maintains project take-offs at each project stage.
- Supports all efforts associated with estimating the cost of jobs and advancing their progress during the preconstruction phase, including plan management, plan review and RFI management
- Serves as a resource for the project team, assisting with answering design questions and resolving potential conflicts.
- Communicates professionally and effectively with subcontractors through the bid-out and budgeting phase.
- Assisting in the bidding processes from assembling bid packages, soliciting/procuring subcontractors, and transmitting important project information to prospective bidders.
- Procures subcontractors bid coverage on active projects as well as networks to develop subcontractor base in new markets.
- Communicate with Preconstruction Manager to identify which scopes require bids prior to bid date.
- Interacts with subcontractors, development team, and project management team for seamless transfer of project information.
- Assists in organizing and preparing the preconstruction turnover meeting(s); properly turns over bid documents and sub layout information to the project team.
- Assists Preconstruction Manager in overall construction budgets, bidding, and scheduling.
- Maintains the master bidder’s list contact information; continually pursues new subcontractor leads.
- Assisting in identifying and prequalifying new subcontractors
- Attend and participate in preconstruction meetings, pre-walks, and post turnover meetings
- Serves as the company liaison as necessary with clients and project stakeholders, and preparing all meeting documentation without errors or omissions.
