The Community Relations Assistant facilitates the efficient operation of the assigned area by performing a variety of clerical, administrative and graphic design tasks including the following:

  • Answers and transfers phone calls, screening when necessary.
  • Maintains a system for recording donations and expenses.
  • Maintains electronic and manual filing systems as assigned.
  • Retrieves information as requested from records, email, minutes, and other related documents; prepares written summaries of data when needed.
  • Responds to and resolves administrative inquiries and questions.
  • Prepare agendas and schedules for meetings.
  • Records and distributes minutes or other records for meetings.
  • Maintains office supplies and coordinates maintenance of office equipment.
  • Assists with graphic design of collateral and communications.
  • Assists with internal and external events.
  • Assists with social media.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Skills/Abilities:

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills; ability to manage multiple tasks/deadlines; financial acumen/ability to interpret financial statements; critical thinking skills; community commitment/involvement.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, Canva, donor management software platforms and related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Maintain confidentiality of donor data.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience in community, nonprofit, and/or volunteer agencies; knowledge/skills in identifying community needs/developing programs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Routine lifting of up to 25 pounds
