SUMMARY OF POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITY:
This position is responsible for identifying potential hazards, evaluating risks, and implementing protocols to prevent accidents.
To be successful in this role, you will need excellent communication skills, a deep knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, and the ability to plan and execute training programs effectively.
Essential Functions:
- Managing a team of safety staff.
- Ensuring that the OSHA safety log and other administrative requirements related to safety operations and regulations are maintained by the safety staff.
- Having a growth mindset that allows for continuous improvement of work product and service delivery in a collaborative way that provides consistent innovation.
- Being able to form and sustain relationships with formal and informal leaders of the organization and become a trusted influencer to impact business objectives.
- Leading and managing the Company's safety efforts by working collaboratively with management, and employees, creating a safe environment for all.
- Collaborating with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Translating emerging risks, technology, and industry best practices for field application to advance the discipline impacting current and future business objectives.
- Ensuring completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
- Stopping operations and activities that could harm employees and equipment.
- Identifying opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Conducing employee training on applicable safety standards.
- Partnering with HR to create in-person and e-learning opportunities to promote a culture of safety company wide.
- Reviewing safety training and recommending revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Creating Safety Inspection Plans and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
- Reviewing accident and incident reports.
- Being able to source data on TCIR, DART, etc. to facilitate KPI metrics and strategize solutions for the Company.
- Driving consistency and standardization of safety programs.
- Working with workers compensation adjuster to close claims.
- Having in-depth knowledge of applicable environmental health and safety regulations, codes, and standards, such as OSHA, NFPA, and EPA.
- Staying apprised of emerging Safety & Health issues: Legislative, regulatory, etc., and communicating with business line managers.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TRAINING):
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in health and safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required.
Required Experience:
- At least 5+ years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Fully effective interpersonal, writing, and other communication skills required to develop and maintain relationships with customers, peers, and industry contacts.
- Ability to conduct training.
- Strong ability to synthesize available safety data to find areas to measure for improvement and efficiency.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to travel and visit local facilities and conduct safety inspections.
Work Environment:
This position will be performed in an office environment, as well as in a manufacturing environment and in the field.
Physical Demands:
This position may involve walking or standing for extended amounts of time, as well as lifting objects between 25-50 lbs.
Travel Required:
This position will involve travel throughout the DFW area, as well as to our other offices in Austin, Houston, Lubbock, Desoto, and Durant, OK.
