The IT System Administrator is an important role in our IT Infrastructure. This person monitors our infrastructure, reports and formulates issue resolutions and operation optimizations, as well as maintaining and improving our security posture with the collaboration of the IT teams, ultimately ensuring high uptime and availability of our IT Systems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains infrastructure security through proper configuration of storage, servers, and devices.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Enterprise infrastructure environment and its workings (server administration, security, virtualization, storage systems, networking, etc.)
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions of infrastructure hardware, software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
  • Assesses infrastructure needs and capabilities of the organization. Makes regular reports to management concerning the current state of the technical environment to include refreshes, upgrade and obsolescence / disposal plans.
  • Works on, designs, and implements support activities for infrastructure servers, storage, appliances, hardware, and system solutions.
  • Works closely with the IT Security to maintain or reach high levels of security and to develop, implement and test the disaster recovery plan for the organization’s infrastructure and data centers. This includes raising awareness of security exposures and emerging threat trends.
  • A well developed understanding of on-premise, hybrid, and full cloud solutions.
  • Optimize cost solutions by identifying waste and automating cost management.
  • Communicate effectively through strong written and oral communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Assess emerging technologies, stay abreast of industry trends, and give advice on investments in technology with costs and performance analysis.
  • Develop and plan highly available and fault-tolerant enterprise and web-scale software deployments.
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the technology community.
  • Ensures compliance of architectural and engineering policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Work closely with developer teams to create an automated CI/CD pipeline.
  • Deliver end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring and infrastructure management in the IT environment.
  • Mentor other members of the IT Infrastructure team.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an infrastructure or similar operating environment; complexity, size and scope.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, XEN
  • Microsoft Windows Server platforms
  • Cloud based SaaS solutions
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture and Designs
  • Experience with Servers, Infrastructure, Platform Sizing, Infrastructure Cost Reduction
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, DevOps Engineer preferred
  • Strong understanding of networking preferred
