QUALIFICATIONS


Education
Required:

24 units of Child Development (CD)/Early Childhood Education (ECE) courses:

3 units in Child/Human Growth and Development

3 units in Child, Family and Community/Society

3 units in Infant/Toddler

3 units in Administration in Child Development

3 units in a CD/ECE Program/Curriculum class, including one of the following:

Principles of Early Childhood Education

Practices in Early Childhood Education

Creative Activities for Young Children

Creative Movement in the Classroom

Music Experience in Early Childhood Education

Children’s Literature

Science Experiences in Early Childhood Education

Literacy and Language with Children

Cultural Diversity

-OR- 15 units of core classes (first 4 classes listed above + one of choice from list), and Early Childhood Certificate/Credential from a certified school recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

-OR- Current Children's Center Permit
 



Experience
Required: Two years teaching experience in a classroom setting

Testing
Must be registered/cleared with CA Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division. This includes a background check, valid California Driver's License/California State I.D card, Live Scan fingerprint clearance and fees provided by Kaweah Health.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential

Provides a quality childcare program. Develops new programming to meet the needs of the children, parents and staff. Continues to learn about child development issues and implements it into the daily curriculum.

Team building. Work to develop leadership among staff and to create a work environment, which meets the mission and vision of the Kaweah Kids Center.

Supervises classroom of toddler/preschool or infant age children. Plans and implements age-appropriate curriculum. Provides a quality learning experience for the children. Provides leadership within the classroom setting.

Maintains a safe environment for the children. Records and reports to parents/guardian and the Director/Assistant Director when accidents occur. Maintains a clean and inviting environment, while preventing unsafe situations for the children.

Serves meals to the children while modeling good eating habits. Assist in meal service and clean up. Records all food allergies and records meals on CSNFP forms.

Maintains a good relationship with parents and co-workers. Models dignity and respect for others when communicating, while maintaining confidentiality of children, parents, staff and visitors.

Performs general hygiene tasks necessary to maintain a clean environment. Assists with diaper changing or bathroom tasks. Models good hygiene practices by washing hands. Teaches children how to care for their own hygiene responsibilities. Sanitizes diapering areas, toys and surfaces when necessary.

Attends staff and classroom meetings and special events. Attends and contributes to classroom planning and becomes involved in curriculum planning. Helps contribute to planning of events or other related activities.

Uses positive guidance techniques when directing children. Able to anticipate potential problems and react by encouraging appropriate behavior.



Additional

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range

$20.00 -$30.00
