We’re partnering with a leading Lloyd’s Managing Agent to appoint a strategic and experienced Sanctions Manager to join their compliance function. This is a high-impact role, responsible for overseeing the sanctions referral process across international territories and acting as a key point of expertise for underwriters, senior stakeholders and external partners.

You’ll provide clear, risk-aware guidance on complex sanctions issues, helping to safeguard the business while enabling commercial decision-making. This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid technical foundation and the confidence to lead conversations across the market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end review of sanctions referrals, including high-risk and complex cases.
  • Assess risks across jurisdictions including Russia, Cuba, Iran, Sudan and others.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of UK, US, and EU sanctions frameworks to advise underwriters and internal stakeholders.
  • Review slips and supporting documentation to identify sanctions exposure and recommend next steps.
  • Liaise directly with Syndicate clients and a range of internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely responses.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for sanctions queries across the business and with external Syndicates.
  • Work closely with sanctions analysts and technicians to triage, escalate and resolve complex referrals.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of sanctions controls and screening practices in line with Lloyd’s market expectations.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Lloyd’s Managing Agent, Syndicate or broking environment is essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of international sanctions regimes and their application within the Lloyd’s and company markets.
  • Experience reviewing sanctions referrals and advising underwriters or legal/compliance teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage across all levels of the business.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach to risk and compliance.

Benefits

Initial 12-month contract. Paying in the region of £65k - £90k per annum.
