$18.39 - $24.95The referenced pay range represents the first and last step pay rates for this job, as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Individual pay will be set in accordance with terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Responsibilities:
Sensitive to the physical environment, following universal precautions: Transports/receives specimens, stocks unit supplies and linen, handles/disposes of body/bloody fluids, secures equipment as needed, preps, shaves, and transports patients as directed by the Nursing Staff. Retrieves case carts, locates and sets up equipment, performs all general housekeeping, floor care maintenance, trash/linen removal, reprocessing and downloading of sterile supplies. Aware of basic aseptic technique.FAO OP134543SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED:MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:Wet mop, floor polishing and buffing machines and equipment, shavers, packing tape, upright and back-pack vacuum cleaning equipment, dry mop, dusters, sponges, pails, utility push and tray return carts, wheelchairs and other transport equipment, step ladder, microwave oven, coffee maker, ice machine, and other similar equipment. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of all service equipment for the set-up of Operating Room (O.R.) Suite.TYPICAL DUTIES:1.Damp dusts center cores, bins, and shelves. 2.Transports patients from Patient Care Units, Intensive Care Units, Strong Surgical Center, Emergency Department and Radiology to the Operating Room suite for scheduled surgery. Validates patient identification through communication with Nursing Staff and the two (2) patient identifiers (barcode identification bands and stickers from patient care units). Transports Stat specimen¿s to Pathology department.. 3.Demonstrates knowledge of special equipment used in O.R. suite such as: specialty bed/ tables, Accessory carts, machines such as: irrigating bio-poplars, head lights, bovie, solutions warmers, Dornoch machines, mini c-arms, Argon/Nitrogen tanks, GPS navigators, power source, Niagara Pumps, SCD Machines, video towers, micro-scopes, Davina robot, Stryker power box, stirrups, candy canes, Neuro head rest, Wilson frames, etc.4.Assists surgeons and nursing staff with patient such as holding extremities, transferring patients from stretcher to OR beds, restraining of patient and patient positioning for OR tables. Preps/shaves patients before surgical procedures are performed. Assists with moving patients with complex monitoring equipment and peripheral/central lines. 5.Restocks supplies for center core, scrub area, canteens, restrooms, locker rooms and work areas. Retrieves containers and supplies from OR suite on daily basis. 6.Responsible for picking dry good supplies for upcoming surgical cases, following pick tickets generated from electronic medical record preference card.7. Neptune Management: exchanging/replacing HEPA filters and smoke evacuator filters, cleaning and emptying the Neptune¿s and redeploying them to OR¿s. 8. Transports case carts.9. Stocks linen in warmers and bags of fluid with expiration datesQUALIFICATIONS:High School education required including at least 2 years of experience in related field with the ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to successfully complete 16 week Orientation/Training/Equipment and Service program required. Previous hospital operating/Trauma room experience or medical /surgical experience in a Health Care Facility setting, Trauma center setting preferred. Knowledge of OR service equipment helpful.
