JOB SUMMARY:
The Technician Development Academy Electric Power training is a 15-week program that is led by an instructor in a classroom and lab, followed by on-the-job training. Held in Cleveland, Ohio, the employees will receive 440 hours of training following five 3-week rotations (2 weeks at our training center in Cleveland, OH; 1 week on-the-job training at a sponsored shop). During the training, you will learn about power generator parts, components, and systems, as well as learn to perform troubleshooting and repair duties related to Caterpillar power generation equipment and Caterpillar engines.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Should possess a passion and a strong desire to become a Caterpillar Technician.
Graduation from an accredited technical school with an emphasis on diesel engines and/or power equipment strongly preferred.
1-2 years of work experience and familiarity with diesel engines and power generators will be preferred.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
Must have strong mechanical aptitude and good attention to detail.
Must have the ability to read and comprehend regulations and instructions, work on a team or individually, and allocate the appropriate time for daily requirements.
Must have the desire and ability to put Safety first and adhere to all company safety guidelines, rules, and requirements.
Strong organizational, computer, customer service, and verbal and written communication skills are required.
Must be self-confident, persistent, open to change, disciplined, and resilient.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
