The primary purpose of this position is to provide quality, school-based intervention services to children who are presenting with a wide variety of physical, communicative or learning
differences/abilities that affect their ability to participate in some academic tasks. The Music Therapist will evaluate children and will develop and monitor individualized goals according to treatment plans and IEPs. Administer standardized assessments and provide parent education and support. Music Therapy Services are provided to students who have a wide variety of dif erences or disorders including physical, cognitive or developmental and who are determined eligible for services through the IEP or 504 process.
Music Therapists work with individuals using music to improve their physical, emotional, cognitive, academics, and social well-being.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Possess a clinical knowledge of the role of Music Therapy Services in the education setting
Provide comprehensive assessment of students with concerns related to Music Therapy for
special education initial referrals and for three-year re-evaluation.
Providing direct instruction and support to students receiving Music Therapy using a variety of music and music-based activities to address therapeutic goals such as improving communication and social skills, promoting emotional regulation and self-expression, and supporting physical rehabilitation
Participate as a specialist in the area of Music Therapy for the purpose of determining eligibility for MT services or Devices.
Assist teams to determine modified curriculum or equipment needs and provide training to
ensure access to specially designed education instruction and curriculum.
Collaborating with other school staff, including special education teachers and speech-language pathologists, to integrate music into the educational plan for students with disabilities

Requirements / Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (4+ years) in a field that meets CDE Requirements for the position
1 year directly related experience in a pediatric setting.
Ability to pass background/fingerprint clearance, health screenings and provide/obtain immunizations (TB) valid within the last year.
Current Music Therapy Licensure/Certificate (Board Certified Music Therapist
Valid Driver’s License, proof of auto insurance, and reliable transportation excluding virtual providers only.
Ability to travel to school sites and/or clinic for in-person providers. Virtual providers are exempt from this requirement.
