Santa Clara Unified School District serves over 15,000 TK-12 students, in addition to students in Preschool through Adult School. Neighborhoods in the Cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, San Jose, and Cupertino comprise the District's 56 square-mile area. Requirements / Qualifications
This position requires an Instructional Assistant test. Testing TBD.
Working environment is a library setting and candidate must have the physical capacity to deal effectively with this environment, which includes vision to read books and media materials, installing displays, lifting and carrying books weighing up to 25 lbs, pushing and pulling carts, walking and standing for extended periods of time.
Qualifications: Candidate must be a high school graduate with one year of clerical or instructional experience working with children in an organized setting. Some experience in a library or media center environment is preferred. Candidate with knowledge of basic library practices, procedures and terminology, the Dewey Decimal system and card/computer cataloging system, library reference materials and sources, as well as knowledge of filing, indexing and inventory procedures is preferred. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary, as well as good oral and written communication skills are essential. Candidate must have computer skills. Knowledge of an automated library system is desirable.
