The Pro Shop Assistant plays a vital role in the daily operations of the golf shop, providing outstanding customer service to members and guests. This position supports sales, merchandise management, tee time coordination, and general upkeep of the golf shop environment. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and passionate about golf.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service
Greet all members and guests warmly and professionally.
Provide knowledgeable assistance on golf merchandise, tee times, and course policies.
Deliver a high level of service to ensure a positive and welcoming experience.
Sales & Merchandising
Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system for retail transactions and green fees.
Assist with merchandise display, restocking, tagging, and inventory control.
Keep the shop clean, organized, and visually appealing.
Tee Time Management
Schedule tee times and manage the tee sheet accurately.
Communicate clearly with outside services and starter regarding player groups and pairings.
Monitor and maintain pace of play standards.
Shop Operations
Answer phones and respond to inquiries in a courteous and timely manner.
Assist with opening and closing procedures of the golf shop.
Maintain cleanliness of counter area, fitting rooms, and general shop appearance.
Communication & Support
Work closely with golf professionals and outside service staff.
Communicate special requests or member preferences to the appropriate team members.
Support tournament operations with materials and check-in as needed.
Qualifications:
Prior retail or customer service experience preferred; golf shop experience is a plus.
Basic golf knowledge and familiarity with golf products.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Comfortable with computers, POS systems, and multi-line phones.
Able to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform light cleaning or stocking tasks.
