Position Summary:

FCC Environmental Services is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Scale Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for monitoring and operating the truck and material scales, assisting customers with drop-off and pickup of recyclable materials and scrap metal, and providing general support at the front desk. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor the scale system to accurately weigh inbound and outbound materials
• Greet and assist customers bringing in recyclables, scrap metal, or picking up materials
• Generate scale tickets and ensure accurate entry of data into the system
• Answer incoming phone calls and provide information or direct to the appropriate department
• Assist walk-in customers with questions and provide general support
• Maintain accurate records of material types and weights
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
• Perform basic clerical duties, including data entry and filing
• Assist with other site operations as needed

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role preferred
• Basic knowledge of recyclable materials and scrap metal is a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable working in an outdoor or industrial environment
