SUMMARY
Position is that of a working manager responsible for the conceptualization, creation, design, and management of internal and external print advertising for properties, to include but not limited to, special events, entertainment, and corporate sales.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide concept, design, coordination and management of internal and external graphics
- Implement, input and coordinate production calendar
- Create budget line management for publications.
- Act as liaison with print sales representatives
- Coordinate ad buys for property
- Coordinate ad contracts for signing
- Objectively reviews artist’s work to ensure accuracy and quality of layout/design.
- Coordinate, design, art direct billboard signage and corporate publications
- Provide art direction for staff
- Proof ads.
- Create new photo imaging for property.
- Prepare and requisition job work orders to be submitted to Marketing Director for signatures.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Fulfill requests of other departments to include: Signage, Logo requests (send to vendors), Posters, Corporate sales
- Willingness to cross-train and provide support in related areas of operations.
- Other related duties assigned by Marketing Director.
OTHER NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have excellent customer service and communication skills both verbal and written. Must be a team player with a positive attitude. Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Must be able to complete tasks and projects in a timely manner by prioritizing obligations and time. Must possess the ability to work with various personalities while maintaining impartiality. Must respond to supervisory guidance and assignments and accept constructive criticisms in order to learn new, updated information. The needs for quickness and ease of adjustment to the work environment and flexibility to change are essential in this position. Must have prior experience with B/W and color ads for newspapers and magazines, special event and entertainment posters, direct mail pieces, corporate identity, billboards, signage, apparel, and other miscellaneous items. Must be proficient in use of CS5 Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, and Word. Experience with web design software a plus.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphics or closely related field, prior supervisory level work, and five or more years of hands-on experience in the graphics field. An Associate’s Degree and the equivalent years of work experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid Michigan’s driver’s license and be insurable by the tribe.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct supervision of 2-3 hourly employees
Task delegation to achieve maximum results
Reinforcement of policies and procedures
Monitor department expenditures
Interview, hire, evaluate, terminate, and maintain employee timekeeping and disciplinary records.
Attend seminars and assigned classes for increased job knowledge
Assist in the planning and organization of all departmental functions
Maintain open lines of communication with other departments and within the department itself.
Assist in creating and administering a mentoring program within the department
Oversee departmental training procedures and evaluate effectiveness of the training program
EQUIPMENT TO BE USED
Mac computers, laser and large format printer, laminator, and other basic office equipment).
Software: CS5 Adobe Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, and Word.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be physically able to operate a variety of job-related machines and/or office equipment. Must be able to move or carry job-related objects or materials. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for sedentary or office environment.
TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS
Must be able to work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Majority of work is performed in a smoke-free office environment. At times, must be able and willing to work in a crowded, loud, and smoky casino environment under constant surveillance.
COMMENTS
Native American and Tribal Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and to take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.
