Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process inspections of machined parts using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Conduct visual inspections to identify surface defects, burrs, and other imperfections.
- Verify that parts meet engineering drawings and specifications.
- Accurately document inspection results and maintain detailed records of inspections performed.
- Complete and maintain inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and other quality documentation.
- Work closely with machinists and production supervisors to communicate inspection results and address any quality issues.
- Provide feedback to the production team to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and industry regulations.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes for non-conforming parts.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or calibration issues to the appropriate personnel.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 - 6 years of experience in quality inspection with aerospace quality inspection techniques.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems is a plus.
- Advanced blueprint understanding and GD&T knowledge.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in using precision measurement tools and inspection equipment.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and machining processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify defects and deviations from specifications.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management software.
