Additional Information: Show/Hide Primary Function The Registration Specialist is responsible for student registration and residency, processing and tracking student fee waivers and payments. This position will also assist the Student Services Department with other tasks as needed.

Qualifications
Must have strong communication, computer, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to create and use spreadsheets, databases, and word processing documents.
Minimum 2 years of experience in typical office setting, preferred.
Organizational skills necessary to maintain office files in an orderly and efficient manner.
Knowledge in conducting investigations and investigative procedures.
Proficient in using Google Suite, Excel spread sheets, the Internet, and Microsoft Word programs.
Must possess sufficient reading and writing skills to perform the requirements of this job, as described herein.
Pre-employment medical examination, including tuberculosis clearance.
Pass a Regional Office of Education Fingerprint/Background Clearance including Federal Bureau of Investigation
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Physical Requirements
Utilize resources from a variety of computer programs and other work units when required to perform the job's functions.
Must communicate verbally and through email with district schools when providing information.
Generally the job requires 75% sitting, 20% walking, and 5% standing.
This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Registration
Starting in March, verify that IT has updated all online registration forms
Verify current student residency status
Notify all buildings of those families whose residency verification was inconclusive so that they can collect residency documents
Before registration opens test the online system for new students
Open re-enrollment and new student enrollment in April
Rerun residency verification at the end of July to re-verify residency
Continue to keep all buildings updated on those families whose residency verification was inconclusive so that they can collect residency documents
Process all new students year-round starting in April
Ensure all buildings have the appropriate staff members with current notary licenses
Residency
Receive all "Request for Residency Check" information
Perform residency investigation (using the private investigator service if warranted and approved)
Make a recommendation and deliver final decision (after consultation with Executive Director of Finance & Operations) on all residency cases
Fee Waivers
Collect all incoming fee waiver application forms from all schools
Check ISBE and appropriate student information systems to see if the family qualifies directly for fee waivers or requires special services
If family is a eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, notate that fees are waived in Skyward for each sibling in the family
If family does not qualify, contact with the family will be made to let them know of the decision and explore other avenues of support as required
Fee Payments and Payment Plans
Processing and assessing the appropriate student fees annually
Monitoring the collection of student fees and providing monthly reports to the Executive Director of Finance & Operations
Work directly with building secretaries and the Athletics and Activities department to determine student eligibility for extracurricular activities
Work directly with the Director of Early Childhood Education to determine if tuition paying students have not made timely payments and assist those families with making their payments
Maintain the fee structure in the student information system so that monthly revenues can be reported in accordance with the Illinois School Code.
General Office and Organizational Skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Provide excellent customer service to administrators, staff, parents, students and other parties.
Knowledge and use of proper grammar, punctuation, sentence construction both in speech and written work.
Perform other duties, as assigned.

Term of Employment The annual salary for this position starts at $52,500 and may be adjusted commensurate with experience and qualifications 261 days, 16 paid holidays Completion of mandated training through Global Compliance Network FLSA Non-Exempt Non-Union Position Pension: IMRF
Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Educational Support Personnel.
