Hybrid 2026 Summer Editorial Intern at The Information
The Information · San Francisco, United States Of America · Hybrid
- Office in San Francisco
About the role
The Information is opening applications for our Summer 2026 Editorial Intern. This is an ideal opportunity for a college or graduate student who plans to become a full-time business, tech, or financial reporter. You will spend the summer reporting and writing stories, supported by our team. This position offers a competitive rate of $1000 weekly and is based in San Francisco or New York.
What you'll do
Candidates must be able to generate ideas, develop sources on a beat, and have some experience in reporting for a college newspaper or other news outlet. They should be interested in breaking news, reading financial statements, quickly getting to speed on a tech sector or company, and honing their reporting skills, particularly on the phone. To support our mission of writing deeply reported, exclusive news, our editorial team provides training and one-on-one coaching to help reporters develop top-rate beat reporting skills.
Reporters typically publish a range of articles for our website and email subscribers, from earnings briefs to features, interviews, and newsletters. They are also likely to help on our proprietary databases of startups, say on generative artificial intelligence companies. We are a collegial newsroom, which means interns have the opportunity to collaborate with highly experienced reporters and write about a variety of companies and topics, from social media to venture capital to e-commerce and advertising.
We strongly encourage people from traditionally underrepresented communities to apply. We are committed to diversity and to building an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds and ages.
If you are interested in applying, please send a resume, clips, and a cover letter that tells us about the articles you have included in your application.
The deadline to apply for the internship is October 31. Start date to be determined upon acceptance.
