The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for a Light Rail Operations Control Center Chief. The Light Rail Operations Control Center Chief is responsible for directing and coordinating the control room functions and monitoring the work of Controllers in the Operations Control Center. The Chief ensures 24-hour coverage as well as coordinates service disruption strategies between all mode operations of the Control Center to include Light Rail, and on a limited basis Bus, and Metro. This position will work directly with Controllers and external agencies to mitigate all reported safety and customer service-related issues promptly and safely.
Duties:
- The Chief Supervisor in the Operations Control Center directs and coordinates the control room functions. The Chief Supervisor is responsible for managing Controllers in a twenty-four-hour, seven day a week operation.
- The Chief Supervisor supports the control room managers in monitoring Control Center Supervisors and Rail and Bus Operators for compliance; intervening in emergency situations and monitoring the voice communication channels.
- Enforces guidelines, rules, Emergency Operating Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, as well as the proper use of equipment and make adjustments or fill-in when manpower is deficient. Also enforces the department's work plan and attends project meetings.
- Assist the managers in assigning projects in areas of responsibility, reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures ensuring compliance of Standard Operating Procedures, Emergency Operating Procedures, General Orders, Bulletins, and Notices.
- The Chief Supervisor collaborates with the controllers and mode dispatchers as they relate to cuts, delays, service disruptions, manpower, and equipment availability.
- Works directly with Controllers and external agencies to promptly and safely mitigate all reported safety and customer service-related issues. Provides Daily Operations Report and statistical data to Control Room Managers.
- Work closely with all modes to include Mobility and MARC operations to address emergencies and service issues.
This position is located in Baltimore City, Maryland.

Minimum Qualifications
Employees in this classification are assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
1. Employees are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and will be required to maintain a reliable communication link for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.
2. Employees are required to work shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
3. Employees are required to travel to various locations throughout the MTA Service area.
4. This position is considered essential and safety sensitive. Employees in this classification are subject to drug testing in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49, Federal Department of Transportation Drug Alcohol Testing Protocols, and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol Testing Rules.
