• Act as the primary field liaison between the City, contractors, utility providers, and the public
• Monitor contractor performance, productivity, and work quality; enforce project plans and specifications
• Conduct and document regular field inspections; maintain comprehensive construction records
• Review contractor pay applications; verify quantities and authorize payments for completed work
• Lead weekly construction update and coordination meetings; record action items and follow-ups
• Ensure contractor compliance with prevailing wage requirements, payroll reporting, materials certifications, and testing standards
• Validate traffic control setup against current MUTCD standards and ensure strict adherence to OSHA safety protocols
• Support development of bid packages, including performing material takeoffs
• Proactively identify issues and advise leadership on potential delays, conflicts, or solutions
• Maintain accurate, properly coded delivery tickets and ensure compliance with internal and external recordkeeping requirements
• Participate in after-hours on-call rotation and emergency response operations as needed
• Strong working knowledge of construction engineering standards, contract compliance, and GDOT specs
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook (and you don’t fear a spreadsheet)
• 8+ years of experience in construction inspection, materials testing, and public infrastructure projects
• Familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and practical field enforcement experience
• Comfortable in environments with heavy equipment, uneven surfaces, and construction hazards
• Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and after-hours for emergencies or schedule demands
• Must be able to operate a city-provided vehicle and comply with all safety policies and regulations with a valid drivers license and clean driving history
