Why Soben?

We’re an award-winning construction consultancy with huge ambitions to put ourselves firmly on the map. We’ve come a long way since operations commenced in 2011 but now is the time to step on the gas and realize our true potential.

It is a hugely exciting time to join our business and we have some amazing times ahead of us. We’re targeting to have 1000 people globally by 2030 to support our expansion plans in current locations as well as additional territories.

Role Description:

As a Construction Project Safety Advisor, you will serve as the cornerstone of our safety program, ensuring all construction activities comply with regulatory requirements while fostering an injury-free workplace. You will be the visible safety leader on job sites, proactively identifying hazards, implementing corrective actions, and cultivating a culture where safety is the top priority for every worker, from laborers to executives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety inspections across construction sites to ensure adherence to OSHA, local, and company safety standards.
  • Review and update Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and site-specific safety plans to align with project requirements.
  • Ensure all subcontractors and vendors comply with safety contractual obligations before permitting work to commence
2. Hazard Identification & Risk Mitigation
  • Perform pre-task safety assessments to identify potential hazards before work begins (e.g., fall risks, electrical hazards, heavy equipment operations).
  • Lead safety risk assessments for high-risk activities (scaffolding, trenching, crane operations, confined spaces) and enforce control measures.
  • Work with engineers and superintendents to implement engineering controls (guardrails, PPE, ventilation systems) where necessary.
3. Incident Investigation & Reporting
  • Investigate all incidents, near-misses, and safety violations—document root causes, witness statements, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain an incident log and provide trend analysis to reduce recurring safety issues.
  • Report findings to project leadership, insurance providers, and regulatory bodies as required.
4. Training & Safety Culture Development
  • Conduct new hire safety orientations and ongoing toolbox talks on critical topics (fall protection, fire prevention, equipment safety).
  • Develop and deliver specialized training programs (e.g., forklift certification, lockout/tagout, hazardous materials handling).
  • Foster a proactive safety culture by engaging workers, recognizing safe behaviors, and addressing unsafe acts promptly.

Preferred Qualifications/ Relevant Experience

 Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, or Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • In-depth knowledge of EPA standards (OSHA plus) , OSHA 500 (Authorized Outreach Trainer) or OSHA 510 and Safety or a related field
  • Tactful enforcement of rules without creating adversarial relationships
  • Clear emergency directive delivery during incidents
  • Adapting training for multilingual crews (Spanish proficiency is a plus)
  • Navigating subcontractor safety accountability challenges
