About the Department
Position Duties
Assists in completing night security rounds and gate guard duties on a regular schedule.
Provides routine grounds and maintenance (to include trash collection and removal, and cleaning and inspection of bathrooms/bath houses).
Operates a cash register as assigned, maintains records and prepares daily report.
Assists in operating work stations assigned to ranger staff such as camp store, operations center attendant, etc.
Assists fulltime staff in leading public in recreational activities.
Patrols park to ensure patrons' enjoyment and safety to include supervision of park rules and regulations.
Responds to inquiries and assists park visitors. Operates grounds keeping machinery as assigned.
Knowledge of Parks and Recreation rules and regulations.
Knowledge of the geographical layout of the park.
Operates various pieces of equipment (county vehicles, lawn mowers, weed eaters, etc.) in accordance with safety standards.
Performs manual labor to include lifting up to 40 lbs.
Is able to be a self-starter and able to work alone to get the job complete to set standards.
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with co-workers, and the general public and to exercise tact and discretion.
Plans, prioritizes, and organizes work.
Speaks to people with poise, voice control and confidence.
Records and delivers information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.
Utilizes mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide; and utilizes decimals and percentages.

Operates computers for data entry, word processing and/or accounting purposes.
Operates small/light equipment, such as power tools.
Operates medium equipment and machinery, such as vehicles or commercial mowers.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED).
Licenses or Certifications:
Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to maintain a safe driving history as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy.
Special Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age as required by the FLSA.
Majority of work hours will consists of evening/night hours on the weekends and holidays throughout the year.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED) and experience in a park setting or other comparable customer service and rule enforcement experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to maintain a safe driving history as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy.
First Aid/CPR/AED
Special Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age as required by the FLSA.
Majority of work hours will consists of evening/night hours on the weekends and holidays throughout the year.
Other Qualifications
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including cash registers, calculators, snack bar equipment, radios, blowers, computers, vehicles etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to exert a moderate amount of force constantly, and up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, to move objects. Moderate work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. However, if the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Moderate Work.
