Internal Communications Consultant

Intro

Help tell the story of our organisation to our organisation. Following an internal promotion, we have a fantastic opportunity for an Internal Communications Consultant to join our team on a five-month FTC basis. This role will be home based.

Who we are

We are responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of pensions funds to nearly 360,000 members across the Rail industry. Our purpose is to secure their future and as members of the fund ourselves, its one the 750 colleagues who work here live and breathe every day.

Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focusing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.

The role

We’re looking for a self-starter to join our busy internal communication team at an exciting time for the organisation. Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, the role is pivotal in the continued work to ensure colleagues are engaged and feel their voice matters as part of our wider strategic conversation. With a new Operating Strategy launched earlier this year, this is an exciting time to join as we build out plans to deliver against the goals.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

The person

You will be experienced in writing engaging content on a variety of subjects and making technical information accessible to a broader audience. You’ll be familiar with common communication tools, or able to pick them up quickly, including content management systems for web, bulk emailing, and surveying tools. The role also involves coordinating events such as lunch and learns, so self-organisation and coordination of others is key.

You’ll be curious to drive your learning and find great stories from around our business that others will be interested in, measuring the success of your communications and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues at all levels of our organisation.

Our values of integrity, community and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behaviour. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They’re what we stand for. You will actively demonstrate our values, helping to create a safe environment, to place the needs of the community above oneself and, through a culture of ‘fair challenge’, align to the best interests of our members.
