Whitecap Resources Inc. ("Whitecap") is a Canadian oil & natural gas company that pays a monthly cash dividend to its shareholders. Since September 2009, Whitecap has experienced remarkable growth, increasing production from 850 boe/d to over 365,000 boe/d. As a majority owner and operator of the Weyburn EOR Project, annually we safely sequester approximately 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 making it a unique project within our portfolio.

Position Summary
We are currently looking for a geophysicist with 10+ years of experience to join our dynamic, multi-disciplined technical team. This position will involve all or a combination of the following skill sets: seismic interpretation, AVO analysis, structural and hazard assessment, and integration of geophysical data with geological and engineering information. The role involves working within a business unit team composed of geological, geophysical, engineering, land, and operations personnel, and reports to the Unconventional Geophysical Manager. as the ideal candidate, you will have a strong, up-to-date understanding of both conventional and unconventional reservoir evaluation techniques. Experience with the Montney formation and developing strong core areas is considered highly desirable.
Role Responsibilities:
3D and 2D seismic interpretation for prospect generation and development planning
Amplitude vs. Offset (AVO) and seismic attribute analysis to quantitatively assess reservoir quality
Collaborate in well planning and execution, including geophysical risk assessments and horizontal well path design
Integrate seismic data with geological models to support reservoir characterization and development strategy
Monitor and analyze induced seismicity in active development areas and coordinate with regulatory bodies as required
Work effectively with a variety of individuals from numerous disciplines
Coordinate with the team to build annual area budgets and production forecasts based on the team managed location inventory
Work with team to consolidate core areas through landsales, swaps and acquisitions
Help build and modify geological models using Petrel software
Monitor industry activity and new technical advancements
Professional and concise management presentations
Qualifications and skills:
BSc or higher degree in Geophysics and PGeo/P.Geoph
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Excels in an integrated multidisciplinary team environment
Applies sound business strategies and appropriate risk assessment
Minimum of 10 years of WCSB experience with hands-on practical Hz drill planning and execution
Petrel software experience is preferred but not mandatory depending on candidate
