Key Responsibilities
- Acting for, with support of senior team members, family law clients on a wide range of legal issues with a particular emphasis on: mid to high-net-worth financial remedy cases, children cases, cohabitation/TOLATA cases, cohabitation agreements and, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements. This will include drafting, reviewing and analysing a wide range of legal documents.
- Identifying, interpreting and applying the relevant legal principles and advising family clients.
- Analysing problems, highlighting areas of risk and thinking critically to resolve issues.
- Acting proactively to assist the Family Team and clients and dealing promptly with correspondence and client enquiries.
- Undertaking legal research when required.
- To develop and engage in business development activities to support the growth of the Family Team and the wider Firm.
- Act with honesty and integrity, as stipulated in the SRA Handbook and Code of Conduct.
- Maintaining the level of competence and knowledge to practice efficiently by keeping abreast with changes and developments in the law.
- Maintaining continued professional development, attending training courses were necessary.
- Supporting and supervising junior colleagues.
- Accurately time recording.
- To bill and collect debts and achieving financial targets.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified Solicitor or MCILEX / FCILEX with relevant experience in the field.
- Comfortable assisting on: finance cases, children cases, cohabitation/TOLATA cases, cohabitation agreements and, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements.
- Able to prioritise workloads and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate confidently with both clients and all department levels across the Firm.
- Excellent communication skills (in person, on the telephone and in writing). And, understands the importance of empathy and sensitivity for family clients.
- Must be computer literate.
- High attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
- Must be able to work as part of a team as well as using own initiative.
- Ability to provide support and guidance to junior colleagues, with the assistance of senior members.
