As part of our mission to expand our world class team at Quantinuum, we look for talented and high potential individuals to join us in an internship position. We are looking for a candidate to contribute to our software tools for quantum compiler optimisations (TKET).
We want people driven by the challenge of quantum compiler design, graph-based transformations, and making these systems faster, smarter, and more effective. You will work on one or more of the following, depending on your expertise and our team’s needs:
Design, benchmark and iterate on new quantum compiler optimisations for quantum circuits and hybrid programs.
Generate datasets and build databases of optimal transformations for fast compilation of common quantum workloads.
Develop search heuristics and distributed algorithms for graph transformation systems applied to quantum compilation.
We are looking for:
Background. MSc and PhD students in computer science, quantum computing or closely related fields.
Requirements. Familiarity with quantum computing is a plus but not required; we welcome applicants with a background in compilers, graph transformation systems, combinatorial optimisation or related fields.
Engineering skills. Strong programming skills and experience writing performance-critical code (Rust or willingness to learn Rust required).
Research skills. Experience in exploring and reviewing scientific literature. Ability to come up with ideas independently and communicate problems effectively.
What is in it for you?
Working alongside a highly talented team, with experienced researchers in the quantum computing industry. We offer a competitive salary for interns and a great working environment. These roles provide great development and learning opportunities to advance your career.
You will collaborate with researchers and engineers in Quantinuum’s TKET team and participate in discussions with the QEC team. A member of the TKET team will supervise your project and meet with you on a regular basis.
