Internal Applicants Only - CRM Officer: Events and Data

At an exciting time for change within the Marketing and Communications team, you will support the implementation and ongoing development of the university’s new CRM technology and processes.

With a focus on events and data, you will manage and oversee the set-up of all University student recruitment and conversion events through our event management platform – currently Gecko.

You will also lead on processes to enable pre-application prospective student data capture and work with UK and international recruitment teams to support their student recruitment objectives while instilling best practice with regards to GDPR and data management.

In addition, you will provide insightful data to marketing teams to help drive future improvements to conversion activity.

This role is full-time and fixed term until 30 October 2026, to cover a period of maternity leave.

Salary: £33,482 - £36,130 per annum (Grade 5)

Job Description

Key Duties
  • Be a proactive champion of change for CRM, supporting the CRM Manager to ensure an effective CRM function is delivered to the institution. 
  • Oversee and manage the end-to-end student recruitment event creation process with stakeholders, helping to define requirements, build booking forms, automated communications and provide insightful post event analytics.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance on event setup and best practice as well as processes and procedures to internal and external customers. Use judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood.
  • Take responsibility for resolving issues independently within events and data management, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action.
  • Support the CRM Manager to develop new data and reporting capability on all CRM activity to help analyse success and inform future marketing activity.
  • Establish working relationships with key stakeholders, developing appropriate communication channels and networks to support CRM and wider student recruitment activities.
  • Proactively investigate and implement opportunities for improvements to event and data capture processes in response to prospective student requirements and data analysis.
  • Create marketing campaign data capture forms and other supporting processes as required by marketing teams, utilising the most appropriate CRM technology.
  • Develop and deliver training on new technology and best CRM practices to relevant marketing colleagues.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance to colleagues on CRM technology, processes and GDPR legislation, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the student recruitment cycle touchpoints for all market segments, working with colleagues across the department to enhance opportunities for improved student acquisition and conversion. 
  • Contribute to discussions with IT and third-party provider(s) to drive forward developments of key CRM technology.
  • Provide support to the CRM Officer: Conversion and Automation during peak times, which will include creation and maintenance of automated communications and customer journeys.
  • Provide support to the wider marketing team during peak times.

Qualifications and Education
  1. Degree/NVQ 4 or equivalent Professional membership/experience
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  1. Substantial experience of working within CRM or complex event booking systems. Experience of building online processes and procedures based on stakeholder requirements.
  2. Able to demonstrate professional knowledge with data/ reporting management to give advice and guidance to internal and external customers  
  3. Ability to set up standard office systems and procedures and make improvements as appropriate

  1. Ability to communicate conceptually detailed and complex information effectively and professionally with a wide range of people
