The Sponsorship & Activation Specialist will be responsible for the planning, execution, and ongoing management of NWFCU’s high-profile sponsorships and sports marketing efforts. This includes deep involvement with the Washington Commanders partnership, college and university sponsorships (e.g., George Mason, George Washington, Marymount), and collaboration with the SEG team to maximize brand visibility and lead generation across all sports and partnership touchpoints.
Responsibilities:Sponsorship Oversight and Management
- Develop and manage sponsorship strategies for sports, collegiate, and other partnerships
- Oversee relationships with sponsors to ensure alignment with the credit union’s goals and maximize the benefits of sponsorships
- Coordinate and manage sports partnerships, including involvement in major sporting events and player endorsements
- Oversee collegiate partnerships, ensuring effective collaboration and mutual benefit
- Monitor and evaluate sponsorship performance and deliverables, providing reports and recommendations for improvements
Event Planning and Execution
- Plan and execute all events, including communications and attendance as needed
- Meet with business units to discuss event goals and needs, make recommendations for success, and understand the target audience
- Develop and implement advertising strategies for events in collaboration with the Marketing team
- Oversee the creation of event materials including handouts, signage, giveaways, and activities with support from the Marketing team
- Execute hands-on setup of event materials including table displays, decorations, registration tables, etc.
- Manage tear-down of events as needed
- Conduct post-event analysis including recommendations for future events, and provide data or feedback on goals reached
Staff Management and Alignment
- Manage and align department staff for various events and sponsorships, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and roles
- Coordinate with internal teams to allocate resources and expertise as needed for successful event execution
- Provide guidance and support to team members involved in event planning and execution
- Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)

Qualifications:Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in sponsorship, sports marketing, or event activation
- Proven track record of successfully managing events and sponsorships
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Experience in managing and aligning staff for events and projects
- Proficiency in event management software and tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with sponsors and partners
- Creative approach to event planning and execution
- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
- Adaptability and continuous learning in the evolving field of event management and sponsorships
- Ability to work effectively on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters and equally effectively remotely
- Ability to work Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm with the ability to attend events after hours and weekends
Preferred
- Experience managing major league or collegiate sponsorships
- Familiarity with CRM tools and campaign performance tracking
- Basic graphic design or content editing skills
