Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Inpatient and Infusion Pharmacy Services oversees the 24hour operations of the inpatient pharmacy and outpatient infusion pharmacy settings. This role ensures safe, effective, and fiscally responsible pharmaceutical care within the organization, with a focus on patient-centered service, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Key areas of responsibility include medication management, sterile compounding (USP <797>/<800>), clinical pharmacy services, staff leadership, budgeting, and optimization of pharmacy technologies. The Director also ensures full compliance with the 340B Drug Pricing Program and other regulatory requirements.
Working collaboratively with medical, nursing, and administrative leadership, the Director advances medication safety, drives performance improvement, and aligns pharmacy services with the organization’s mission to deliver high-quality, accessible care to the community.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required; advanced degree (MS, MBA, MHA) preferred.
- Current California pharmacist license (or eligibility for licensure) required.
- Board certification in a relevant specialty (BCPS, BCSCP, BCOP) required.
Knowledge/Experience:
- 7+ years of progressive pharmacy leadership experience in a hospital or health system setting required.
- Strong knowledge of inpatient pharmacy operations, infusion therapy services, sterile compounding, and 340B program compliance.
Skills:
- Ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and collaborate across disciplines.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and change management skills.
- Experience with pharmacy automation, EMR integration, and performance improvement processes preferred.
