Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist is an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment. The HR Generalist will work closely with new hires, employees and managers to manage onboarding of all new hire employees. The HR Generalist handles a broad range of employee records and changes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness within the human resource information system.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate closely with Recruiting for non-driver job offers through Workday.
- Drive the pre-hire process for drivers and non-drivers including hire date confirmation, coordination with Safety, and synch with driver trainers.
- Process background checks, including review of results, initiating adverse action notices, and communicating results with hiring managers.
- Deliver onboarding communications and ensure employees complete all tasks in Workday in a timely manner.
- Perform customer service function by answering employee requests and questions.
- Lead the in-person and remote employee orientation meetings biweekly.
- Maintain employee records in Workday, accurately and timely updating employee information.
- Confirm E-Verify results and verify Forms I-9 are documented and completed by managers.
- Coordinate with Benefits on coverages and employee enrollments, providing backup as needed.
- Implement initiatives promoting company values and policies.
- Maintain a good understanding of current laws and regulations that impact HR.
- This position can assist hiring managers in sourcing candidates .
- Oversee the non-DOT pre-employment and random drug testing in coordination with the safety department and responsive to additions, terminations or changes.
- Maintain the legacy employee paper personnel files in compliance with the retention schedule.
- Oversee the proper retention schedule for the paper I-9’s in the binder.
- Make personnel file copies as needed for subpoenas, receive and distribute HR mail.
- Ensure new hires are registered for state-mandated, anti-harassment training.
- May serve as a backup for other HR functions.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or equivalent work experience in HR
- A minimum of three years of HR experience in a generalist role
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and HR systems
- Broad experience using Workday HCM to support HR process
- Proficiency with E-Verify and similar employee support sites
Preferred Qualifications:
- SHRM or HRCI Certification
- Familiarity of the aspects of the employee lifecycle
- Project management experience
- Experience in transportation and logistics industry is a plus

Salary Range:
Disclaimer: The salary range for this position is $56,000 to $78,000. This range is based on market data and internal equity. The final offer will be determined by various factors, including the candidates experience, education, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
