Job Summary
Our Quality Control Inspectors are key players in the inspection of inbound and stored product. They ensure temperatures, size, quality and conditions meet Company and USDA standards.Job Description
- Experience Required: 3 to 5 years
- Experience Desired: Experience working with produce and perishable food items in relation to USDA requirements.
- Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification or Licensing Required: Food Safety; USDA Food/Produce Quality Standards
- Travel Required: Regional - Daily, Less than 10%
- Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
Job Responsibilities
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment to ensure product meets company quality standards to buyer's specifications by checking temperatures, weight, packaging and visual appearance.
- Assist in daily inventory and receiving functions.
- Check product for proper rotation and monitor product in distribution center for quality and out of date codes.
- Monitor receiving PLU and UPC information and retail pricing for accuracy to the system, audit GS1 code information verification, follow up with buying group on any needed corrections. Monitor product BRIX
information. - Record appropriate information, relay all problems to the appropriate buyer in reference to quality, service level, and product movement.
- Keep current with new trends, procedures and product lines.
- Accountable for the ripening process and proper selection sequence of bananas. Meet the goal of shipping fruit to retail at the prescribed color stage.
- Observe and monitor job performance of distribution center personnel to reinforce good work habits, identify training needs, and to promote safe, efficient work processes under the conditions of the labor
agreement. - Be active agent to create change / upgrades in the system and processes for improvements at both warehouse and retail levels work methods.
- Visit retail stores on a bimonthly basis.
- All other duties as assigned.
