Job Description Summary  Minimum starting salary $31.24

Therapist within the Will’s Place program are responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in the provision of therapeutic services.  The therapist is responsible for delivering a full range of school-based services for adolescents and families impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance use and mental health) issues. The School-Based Therapist coordinates pertinent student information between school personnel, medical providers, behavioral health service providers, hospitals, and families on behalf of the student, per releases and family request. The School-Based Therapist will make referrals and coordinate services as needed. The Therapist demonstrates welcoming, empathic, hopeful attitude and conveys a philosophy of dual recovery and is trained and/or experienced in working with mental health and/or substance use. The therapist provides services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance use and mental health) issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often times have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. The therapist will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received.  The therapist reports to the Clinical Director who works closely with Center psychiatrists, CSS’s and other therapist.  If licensed, The therapist may supervise unlicensed therapists and/or interns.

Education:

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling from an accredited college or university is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensure in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling in the State of Missouri is preferred, but provisional licensure is accepted.

Responsibilities:

  • The therapist is responsible for providing individual, group, and family counseling.
  • The therapist performs intake interviews, hence identifying presenting problems and generating preliminary treatment plans for all new patients.
  • The therapist provides crisis services for his/her clients during regular daytime operations.
  • Provide or coordinate trainings on behavioral health issues, specific to youth, for school personnel as approved by the Director.
  • The Therapist facilitates continuity of care between all program components of the Center.
  • Participate in school and collaborative meetings such as school district interagency meetings and System of Care meeting as needed.
  • The therapist may be assigned supervision responsibilities for Provisionally Licensed Therapists.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal Office environment. 
  • Typical physical demands include prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment as needed. 
  • Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and to work irregular hours.
  • TB test upon hire.
