The focus of the class is to perform technical and administrative advanced duties related to the design, establishment, enhancement, and support of Richland County Sheriff's Department PC/LAN environment, including the installation/configuration/troubleshooting/repairing of microcomputers, laptops, tablets, iPads, faxes, peripheral devices such as monitors/printers/scanners/webcams, phones, and associated software. This position maintains the integrity of the network; offers cost-effective solutions; manages/recycles resources where applicable; trains employees on supported processes/applications or non-traditional software not used uniformly throughout all departments; troubleshoots anomalies; removes bloatware; quarantines threats; unlocks passwords and voicemail pins for users; sets up remote desktops; contacts vendors for parts under warranty; conducts back-up of servers/data; manage permissions/ensure security; manages group policies and Windows update services; researches products/equipment requested by users; provides customized quotes; resolves tasks for complex assignments, routine requests, and/or level II assignments not yet resolved; provides support to the network team; and serves on assigned projects. This position is dispatched to local and remote County sites to perform the more difficult repair and support duties; travels in personal car to computer sites throughout the County; and occasionally interacts with outside consultants and outside vendors. Follows guidelines for work but determine the approach for doing the work; supervisor focuses on the outcomes of that work.
