As we transition from a historic daily newspaper to a dynamic modern media company, we are seeking a talented Archives Rights Associate to join our team. The AJC believes that when you cover the South, you uncover the nation. It’s a belief that’s produced award-winning journalism, elevated our community, and captured the substance and soul of our hometown.

If you're ready to make headlines with your talent and drive, we want you on our team. Apply now and be a part of the next chapter in the AJC’s transformation.

We’re looking for a Part-Time Archives Associate to support the Director of Archives and Rights Management by assessing and organizing materials within our current digital asset management system, SCC, in preparation for migration to a new platform. This role will leverage expertise in SCC to ensure the archives are well-organized, accurately documented, and ready for the transition.

Please note, this role is based in Atlanta, GA and will work about 15 hours a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct surveys of media currently stored within SCC.

  • Identify and document issues related to metadata accuracy, duplication of media, and gaps within the archival collection.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Archives to prioritize and address identified issues and develop timelines for resolution.

  • Support the implementation of workflows designed to rectify identified priorities.

  • Create, update, and correct metadata as necessary to ensure consistency and accuracy.

  • Provide additional archival support and assistance as directed by the Archives Director.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree and at least 2+ years of professional experience or at least 4 years of relevant experience without a degree.

  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with SCC.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a newsroom library, archives department, or similar environment.

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

The responsibilities above describe the general nature and level of work performed and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required. We look forward to your application and the opportunity to grow our impactful journalism team together!
