Job Summary: About the Position: This is a military technician position with the 412th Theater Engineer Command, Headquarters Support Command, 467th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade located at Millington, Tennessee. Major Duties:

  • Conduct safety investigations of minor/moderate accidents and incidents.
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments to formulate corrective and/or preventative actions.
  • Analyze accident investigation reports involving operations and facilities to identify potential problems and/or trends.
  • Assist in performing safety awareness training.
  • Promote safety programs through presentations, briefings and displays.
  • Assist brigade safety specialist in forming recommendations for hazard abatement.
  • Maintain records and data of the Battalion Safety Program.
  • Maintain a Hazard Log to track items through the abatement process to close.

Qualifications: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. First cutoff date to evaluate candidates will be May 29th, 2025 at 11:59 PM. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing or reviewing written products; delivering oral briefings; identifying, preventing, or eliminating safety hazards in work processes or environmental conditions in areas such as: fire prevention inspector, construction, safety, engineering, radiation, transportation, or electrical safety; and/or safety training or promotion. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
