We are eagerly seeking a detail-oriented Payments & Banking Analyst Co-op/intern, available for a preference of an eight-month term Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 (September to April) work term (a four month, Fall 2025 only work term may be considered from September – December). This is a pivotal time to join us as we introduce new banking partners and expand our payment capabilities. The Payments & Banking Analyst co-op/intern will work within our Investment Operations department. This is a great opportunity for you to learn and apply your knowledge in support of high-value, high-impact payment activities. The team is responsible for SSI management, payment execution, banking relationships, and maintaining best-in-class AML and fraud prevention practices. You’ll be exposed to private market deal fundings, SWIFT, banking platforms, various payment systems, and several other technical applications.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
Investment Operations (IO) is comprised of four branches: Derivatives, Collateral & Engineering, Trade Management, Cash Operations and Business Solutions. The department delivers core capabilities in areas including trade settlements, corporate actions, derivatives, collateral management, foreign exchange, and cash services, while collaborating with internal partners to design and coordinate end-to-end solutions. Outside of the IO family, the Payments & Banking team interacts with virtually every department at BCI, offering the opportunity to interact with several stakeholders.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Explore opportunities to create automated solutions for various workflows
Support payment execution through review and analysis of payment instructions
Conduct market research and analysis on emerging trends in the payment space and present recommendations
Application testing and procedure documentation
Prepare monthly KPI reports
Ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the team
REQUIRED SKILLS
A general knowledge of financial markets and investments
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Quick adaptability to a new and changing environment
Ability to communicate professionally, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
A learner’s mindset, with a keen interest in continuous professional development
Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office, and the ability to work with large data
Knowledge of R-studio and/or VBA is an asset
SWIFT knowledge/experience is an asset
Banking experience is an asset

Competitive Pay: $2,330.00 gross bi-weekly or $2,155.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary ($2,330.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) a graduate degree or joining the Investment Strategy & Risk department and $2,155.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate)
Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location
