What to know about this role
- This is a ten (10) week, 30-hour per-week internship from Monday, June 9th, 2025 to Friday, August 15th, 2025.
- The hourly rate for this position is: $18.00 per hour
- We are a fully remote organization with team members across the country. Work from the comfort of your home, a local coffee shop, or wherever in the U.S. brings you joy! Please note that you MUST live in one of the following states to be considered for this temporary role:

The impact of this role
Are you a data sleuth who loves uncovering insights and telling compelling stories? As an intern with the AMA Research & Innovation Team, you’ll work to creatively answer questions about the state of the marketing industry that will help position the AMA as the go-to source for marketing knowledge.
Throughout your internship, you’ll gain hands-on experience in data analysis, visualization, and storytelling—essential skills if you are considering a career in research, data analytics, and product management. With coaching and support from a small team of curious and creative researchers, you’ll see your work through from the initial research question to publication on AMA.org, and will have the opportunity to build your portfolio with real-world projects.
What you’ll be doing
- Use public data, customer data, surveys, interviews, and other sources to answer questions about the marketing industry, such as how many marketing students graduate yearly and the job outlook for marketing professors
- Create articles, mini reports, and/or visual assets that communicate research findings in a compelling and digestible way and that can be published on AMA.org
- Present work in progress to AMA staff for input and feedback
- Collaborate with stakeholders both in and outside of the AMA team to find data and disseminate research findings
What you bring to the table
- Experience analyzing public data to draw insights
- A portfolio or work sample that you would be willing to share in the application that shows your ability to synthesize data and tell a compelling story through words and visualizations
- Experience presenting research findings to a group or class
- Excellent critical thinking, creative thinking, analytical, and research skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
What you may also have
- Experience with data visualization, design, business intelligence tools, and/or statistics a plus
What to expect from the interview process
- Hiring Manager resume review
- One-way video interview on Spark Hire (We promise this isn’t scary! Our questions are well thought out and we wanted your answers to be as well. So you have unlimited think time for each of the five questions we ask!) that will take 15-20 minutes.
- 30-minute phone interview with a member of AMA’s People and Culture team
- Virtual Interview with the hiring manager that you’ll be working closely with.
