Job Description Summary
Under direction from the Senior Manager of Facilities Information and Inventory Systems, the role is responsible for the maintenance of UBCs technical drawings and related dataset. Responsible for maintaining spatial information and asset locations to support the organizations facility planning, management and maintenance goals.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Senior Manager, Facilities Information and Inventory Systems, Facilities – Customer Service and Informatics
Work Performed
Update and maintain facility drawings and campus maps incorporating changes from renovations, expansions, retrofits and other infrastructure projects to match as-built conditions.
Assist with the compilation and maintenance of spatial and asset data integrated with facility management applications and other university-wide enterprise applications
Performs work submitted by consultants, facility planners, service workers, other departments which may include drawing files, PDFs, roughly drawn sketches and or detailed drawings and specifications in hard copy.
Performs routine tasks for publication of facility floorplans and campus maps in various formats to support the online facilities records repository and other client-facing portals.
Provides custom graphics support, including: preparing sketches, site contexts maps, thematic maps as required to planning projects, presentations and internal reports.
Assists in the compilation, distribution and archiving of files as requested
Performs database queries, calculations, compilations and analysis on space and asset records from drawing models.
Performs on-site verification for as-built conditions and participates in space audits to support planning initiatives as needed.
Applies drawings standards and reinforces best-practices and guidelines on on all working files.
Provides innovative solutions and identify potential challenges related to the production of facility layouts, asset locations and other datasets maintained in the department
Assists in the development of reference files such as project tracking logs, drawing standards and work procedure manuals.
Coordinates with project stakeholders on policies and procedures for drawing submission requirements and room numbering processes.
Investigates anomalies and discrepancies between drawings and data to ensure accuracy.
Operates various types of office equipment such as scanners, copiers, plotters and computers.
Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Data analysis errors where they occur in the compilation of drawings used in construction may result in costly discrepancies in the field. Drafting Errors where they occur used to locate devices, IDs, architectural elements and standards may result in costly discrepancies and compromise the safety of personnel
Supervision Received
Work is done under direction. Considerable independent judgment and action are exercised in matters that are within the framework of established procedures, but policy matters or unusual problems are referred to the manager. Instructions on new assignments and policies are received from the manager who reviews performance for overall results and conformance with established practices and policies.

May assist in training new team members on minor processes and applications used in the department
Minimum Qualifications
High School graduation plus a technical diploma or certificate in a relevant program and 4 years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Intermediate skill level in computer aided drafting software used within the industry. (AutoCAD Map3D, Civil 3D, versions 2020- to current). Experience working with BIM, CAFM, and GIS platforms is a plus.
Must have the ability to read and interpret working drawings sets in print and electronic formats.
Sound knowledge and experience in drafting practices, procedures and industry specific graphic standards.
Intermediate knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office software and Adobe products.
Proven and strong aptitude for detail, accuracy and consistency.

Preferred Qualifications
Intermediate skills in working with databases and SDE/SDF connections used in geospatial environments.
Experience in working with space management or asset tracking applications and integrations is an asset.
Experience working in a municipal, civil, engineering and or architectural environment an asset.
Sound knowledge of relational database design, queries, data manipulation.
Experience in project coordination is preferred.
Ability to deal effectively and courteously with others, and provide assistance and information.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and to submit quality work within assigned deadlines.
Proven ability to build and maintain business relationships and to exercise tact, diplomacy and discretion.
