About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Credit Manager to lead our team of credit underwriters in our Adelaide office. This newly created role is responsible for overseeing the assessment of consumer automotive loans and unsecured personal loans, ensuring consistent and accurate credit decisions while driving team performance and continuous improvement. You will lead an established team of credit underwriters, including two direct reports in Team Leader positions.
What you'll be doing
•Team Leadership & Development: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of credit underwriters, including two direct reports in Team Leader roles
•Risk Assessment & Underwriting: Oversee the assessment and approval of consumer automotive loans and unsecured personal loans, adhering to company policies and risk appetite. Ensure consistent application of credit policies and procedures across the team.
•Performance & Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, quality, and turnaround times. Prepare and present reports on team performance and credit portfolio metrics.
•Process Improvement: Develop and implement strategies to optimise credit processes and enhance the customer experience. Identify and implement opportunities for business optimisation and delivery consistency within the team.
•Coaching: Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members.
•Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and operations, to ensure seamless loan processing.
•Market Analysis: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities.
•Risk Management: Contribute to the development and implementation of credit risk management strategies.
Skills and Experience:
•A minimum of 5 years of people management experience within the finance industry, specifically in Consumer credit or lending.
•Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team, driving a consistent application of credit policy
•Strong understanding of consumer lending products and credit risk assessment principles.
•Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
•Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Knowledge of relevant Australian regulations and compliance requirements.
