Opportunity for 3-12hrs shifts -11:00am-11:30pm
The Unit Secretary is responsible for accurately and thoroughly performing general receptionist, secretarial and clerical duties on the assigned nursing unit. Demonstrates a welcoming and friendly attitude to all customers including patients, families, visitors, staff and physicians. The Unit Secretary facilitates the smooth, efficient operations of the patient care unit. Adheres to the mission, values and philosophy of Community First.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strives to promote and maintain an atmosphere in and around the nursing station conducive to patient care.
- Identifies and reports deviations from safety and adheres to guidelines of electrical safety and infection control.
- Maintains patient charts.
- Checks and order supplies, forms, linen, supply and equipment in a timely manner.
- Assists in managing equipment repairs and requests.
- Answers all phone calls promptly, courteously and efficiently.
- Processes patient charges.
- Fill and maintain PPE cabinets.
- Updated patient information boards.
- Assist in answering call lights and relay patient’s needs.
- Maintain order in the supply room and cabinets in nursing station.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited program required
- Prior experience as a front desk admin. support preferred
- Able to comprehend medical terminology.
- Ability to apply medical knowledge procedure and understand and act on technical inf
- Able to communicate effectively using written and verbal English; bilingual skills preferred
- Able to cope with various complex activities and ability to function in emergency situations.
- Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) experience preferred
