Job Title: Registered Dietician 

Home Office: Johnson County Office (JCO), Union County Office - Manion (UCOM), or Alexander County Office (ACO). Location is dependent on office space availability. 

Area of Focus: Behavioral Health
Program(s): Southern Illinois Rural Healthcare Services Outreach program (SIRHSO) - SIRHSO focuses on expanding access to preventative health care services in underserved rural areas through the following four national priority areas: Heart Disease, Cancer, Chronic Lower Respiratory Disease (CLRD), and Unintentional Injury. This consortium includes local healthcare providers and community-based partners who are committed to reducing health disparities and improving access to early detection and preventive services in our rural communities.

Immediate Supervisor:  SIRHSO Assistant Director 

Hours of Work:  40 hours/week

Registered Dietician Minimum Qualifications: Licensed Registered Dietician in the State of Illinois with a Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of five years of experience in clinical or community-based nutrition programs. Strong skills in health education, patient engagement, and program evaluation.

Registered Dietician Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of local health and human services resources. Excellent active listening skills. Excellent written, oral, visual, and non-verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines as assigned. 
Registered Dietician Special Requirements: Must be 21 years of age; maintains a valid driver’s license and vehicle liability insurance; maintain First Aid & CPR certification; must complete required registry clearances and criminal fingerprint background checks; travel to off-site/community based locations for direct service delivery; schedules evening / or weekend hours as required.

Registered Dietician Position Summary: The Registered Dietician will lead nutrition-related education and preventative services, focusing on addressing chronic health issues such as heart disease, cancer, chronic lower respiratory disease, and unintentional injuries through evidence-based practices.

Registered Dietician job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop and implement nutrition education programs, including food demonstrations and classes.

  • Conduct individual participant assessments to develop personalized nutrition plans.

  • Oversee the use of nutrition assessment tools, including Hemoglobin A1c and Lipid Profile Testing Kits.

  • Manage food distribution services, including sample recipe kits and meal planners.

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to integrate nutritional services into broader preventative care.

  • Evaluate participant progress and provide reports on program outcomes.

  • Provide training for staff and volunteers on nutrition-related topics to enhance program delivery.

  • Create educational materials, such as brochures and infographics, tailored to participant needs.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of dietary guidelines and implement innovative practices.

  • Support participants in setting realistic, achievable health and wellness goals.

Salary Range: $57,690 - $61,190 (pay is based on education level, years of experience, and credentials)
